BARROWS TEA COMPANY TESTIMONIALS

Dear Mr. Barrows,

When I wrote to you asking where I could resupply myself with your Japanese Green Tea, I never expected to get all those teabags sent to me! Thank you so much! I do love your tea & can’t wait till Zabar’s in NYC restocks – I promise to stand in the aisle & yell “thank God you got my Barrows Green Tea back!!” Seriously, I’ve tried at least 9 brands of green tea & all of them tasted bitter, your green tea has all the flavor (& I hope the restorative properties) but without the bitterness. Thanks again for the tea,

S. Nierenberg – New York (Nov. 7, 1994)

Dear Mr. Barrows,

I have been drinking Japanese green tea in loose form for over ten years simply because I cannot find quality green tea in a bag. I can’t begin to name all of the brands that I’ve tried over the years. I’ve purchased and tried each new brand I’d find, from Lipton’s to Mr. Lee’s and every “off the wall” brand in between. I’d even make special trips to “new” tea and coffee houses in my quest to find a drinkable green tea in bag. Unfortunately, they have all been DREADFUL! In fact, each brand I’ve sampled has been so beastly that I could never finish the cup. I’ve spent many dollars and time searching for the perfect cup of green tea. I’d given up hope and resigned myself to the fact that I’d just have to carry around my baggie of loose green tea and tea ball. This would not be so bad, except that I’d always have to explain to people that I was not carrying around a bag of marijuana and making a cup of “mary jane tea!” (I live in California where the laws are a little looser, as is the population!). Anyway, I stumbled across a lone canister of your fine grade Sencha tea at my local Marshall’s store and purchased it. I dejectedly made my sample cup, expecting the worst. Hallelujah and nirvana! It was perfect! I must have more. Please let me know how this can be accomplished. If you have a catalog, I would appreciate a copy being sent to me ASAP at the address at the top of this letter. Many thanks and blessings upon you for your splendid tea!

Sincerely,
D. Schott – California (June 12, 1995)

Regarding: Sam Barrows, Barrows Tea Company

I am writing this note to introduce you to my friend, Sam Barrows. Sam has been producing the finest quality teas at his shop in New Bedford, Massachusetts since 1984. During that entire time his commitment to the quality and integrity of the product has never wavered.

Lees Supermarket has been carrying his tea since 1984 and has had continual success, once the customers become aware of its unique character. It continually performs along with the top sellers in its category.

I would ask that you take a serious look at Sam’s product and consider a placement in your stores. We all know how difficult it is for smaller companies to place their products today, but we all know that many are superior and we at Lees feel that it is in the consumer’s best interest to have these unique products on our shelves.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Dear Sam,

Your Japanese Green Tea is excellent - thank you. I lived in Japan during the ‘50s and was served green Tea at work instead of coffee breaks. I learned to love it but since then I haven’t found any green Tea (Even The finest Russian) to compare with it until I received a gift of Barrows from my New England sister – It is wonderful – but I never see it in the Midwest. Why not?

Dear Sam,

We probably should have dropped you a line sooner, but we’d still like to thank you for your generosity in supplying our summer tour with all that excellent tea.

The band travels with its own chef, and she would have an assortment ready for us at each show. She’s become a fan of yours, as have several of the guys on the road crew.

Our favorites (which are all gone now, in case your offer still stands) were the Himalayan Black, Japanese Green and Earl Grey.

We hope you got a chance to catch the show somewhere along the way (Mansfield, perhaps?). While we have no current touring plans, we hope to be out again next summer, and would love to meet up with you wherever it’s convenient.

Thanks again, and keep rockin!

Sincerely, Tom Scholz – BOSTON, Massachusetts (December 5, 2003)
